Chantilly Training Grounds

Training Grounds

Since 1956, 55% of Group race winners in France have been trained on the Chantilly gallops.

Tim enjoys privileged access to this exceptional training environment — from the gallops and training tracks to the racecourse itself. Managed by France Galop and surrounded by 1,500 hectares of forest, the training centre boasts 120 kilometres of tracks, including turf gallops, a wide variety of sand and fibre-sand tracks, as well as a new woodchip track inaugurated this year.

Ideally located, Chantilly is only 15 minutes from Paris–Charles de Gaulle Airport and 20 minutes by train from Paris, offering remarkable accessibility for international owners. Watching the morning training on Chantilly’s legendary gallops is a truly unique and unforgettable experience, embodying the prestige and tradition of French racing.

The Yard

Nestled in the very heart of Chantilly’s world-famous training centre, this exceptional yard enjoys an unrivalled location at the core of the training grounds. With direct access to Les Aigles and only moments from the racecourse, it offers the perfect setting for excellence.

Steeped in history and prestige, the yard has produced numerous Group 1 winners and stands among Chantilly’s most iconic stables. Champions trained here have captured some of the sport’s most coveted prizes — including the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Poule d’Essai des Poulains, Epsom Derby, Irish Derby, and Prix du Jockey Club.

It was once home to the legendary Sea-Bird, celebrated as the horse of the century until the arrival of Frankel — a testament to the yard’s enduring legacy of greatness.
